Reskandi Chastelia Rudjito and Dr. Amparo Jiménez, met last week in the facilities of CELABOR with their senior scientist and project manager, Mahmoud Hamzaoui and Stéphane Kohnen. The meeting served to clarify technical points about the extraction and modification of corn starch and exchange further information on the progress of the BARBARA project.

The radio program aims to disseminate science to the wider audience and devoted 30 min to ask about the rationale, scope and structure of the BARBARA project.

This monday, The 11th national forum on industrial applications of nanotechnology was held at the University of Zaragoza, Spain. TECNO was there, presenting the most recent applications of nanotechnology in the manufacture of biopolymer pieces with advanced aesthetical properties, either within the BARBARA as well as in other nanotechnoogy reated projects of the strat-up company. In the BARBARA project, different pigments, antimicrobials and fragrance compounds are being incorporated into layered nanoclays at the nanoscale level.

The European Bio-based industries joint undertaking (BBI-JU) organized the BBI Stakeholders day on the 6th and 7th of December in Brussels. This Stakeholder Forum was a one-day public event dedicated to engaging directly in dialogue with BBI JU’s stakeholders.  All 65 BBI approved projects were exhibited to the open public in different stands on December 7th.

Project Barbara was featured in the most important newspaper in the region of Alicante, Spain (web version). With the original headline "the palette of colours is stretched", the news article focuses on the work performed by the two teams in the University of Alicante, the Nanobiopol Group and the Group of Vision and Colour. The latter one is in charge of creating new colours from the natural extracts provided by the former.
